Independent advice, not a sales pitch
An independent read on your IT and security — before you spend more on it.
An assessment or second opinion for Missoula-area businesses with no full-time IT person — a written, prioritized recommendation you keep, whether or not you ever hire Granite Peak to act on it. Every setup’s a little different, so price follows what we’re actually looking at, not a flat number — you’ll have one after the fit call, before anything starts.
For you if
This is probably for you if…
- You don’t have anyone in the building whose job is actually IT.
- Your setup was put together once, a while ago, and nobody’s checked it since.
- You’re renewing cyber insurance and don’t know how you’d answer the questionnaire.
- You already have someone handling IT and just want an honest, independent read on it.
- You’re about to spend real money on new technology and want a second opinion first.
Deliverables
What you receive
Documentation you own, scoped to what you’re consulting on. Every engagement is different — you’ll get written deliverables for the areas we actually review, not a fixed checklist that assumes everything is in scope.
- A written summary scoped to what you brought us — the topics we actually reviewed, documented in plain language you can keep and share, not a verbal recap that lives only in someone’s head.
- Where a security review is in scope: a baseline scorecard covering the relevant layers (Identity & Email, Devices, Network, Backup & Recovery, Documentation & Response), each rated Appropriate / Implemented / Owned / Verified — we assess the areas your engagement touches, not every layer by default.
- A prioritized roadmap for the areas we reviewed — findings ordered by risk and budget, each with an owner and a target date.
- For a Second Opinion: a written recommendation on the setup or provider you asked us to weigh in on — keep it, push for specific fixes, or change — with the reasoning shown.
How it works
A calm, documented process
- 1
20-minute fit call (free)
A straight conversation about what’s going on and whether this is the right fit.
- 2
Discovery
We look at what’s actually in place — not what’s documented, what’s real.
- 3
Score against the baseline
Each layer rated Appropriate, Implemented, Owned and Verified.
- 4
Report & roadmap
A written report and roadmap, delivered in a review session — findings, priorities, owners, target dates.
- 5
Your call
Act on it yourself, bring in another firm, or talk to us about ongoing support — no assumption either way.
Honest scope
What this is not
- Not a sales pitch dressed up as a diagnostic.
- Not a compliance certification.
- Not a guarantee against every risk.
- Not (for the Second Opinion) a takeover pitch or a claim that your current provider is wrong.
Checked against a public standard
The assessment is scored against the same standard Granite Peak already publishes on its Security Baseline page — so you’re not taking our word for the findings. You can check them against a standard that was public before the engagement ever started.
Local & accountable
A founder-led partner in Missoula
Granite Peak is intentionally small and local. That means direct accountability and standards you can see — not a support model that hides behind tiers and hold music.
- Direct access, clear accountability—without the call-center runaround.
- Recommendations are prioritized by risk and budget, in plain English.
- We document what we do, so nothing lives only in one person’s head.
Offers
Two ways to start
IT & Security Assessment
- Who it's for
- An owner or office manager who doesn’t have anyone whose job is IT, and wants to know where they actually stand before spending more money fixing, replacing or hiring for it.
- What you walk away with
- A written baseline scorecard and a prioritized roadmap — yours to act on yourself, hand to another provider, or bring back to us.
- What it's not
- Not a sales pitch. Not a compliance certification. Not a guarantee against every risk.
If the roadmap points toward ongoing managed support, the fee credits against the first months of a managed-IT agreement — never toward hardware or project work.
Second Opinion: IT & Vendor Review
- Who it's for
- A business that already has someone handling IT — in-house or another firm — and wants an honest, independent read on whether it’s working, or is weighing a change.
- What you walk away with
- A review of your current setup against the same published baseline, plus a written opinion — keep it, push for specific fixes, or change — with the reasoning shown.
- What it's not
- Not a takeover pitch. Not a promise your current provider is wrong. Not contract negotiation on your behalf unless you ask for it separately.
Start with a 20-minute fit call
A straight conversation about what is and is not working. No scare pitch, no obligation.
What happens next
- A short, no-pressure fit call to understand your environment
- A plain-English summary of what we would look at first
- A clear recommendation — even if that is not Granite Peak
